Parallel Visions
Rick Rothrock, Deborah Stelling, Carla Lombardi, Ken Mabrey, Valetta, Mitch Lyons, Margo Allman, Helen Mason
The eight members of SYNE, a consortium of Delaware Valley artists, have taken on the ambitious task of bringing together artists and their work from six different countries. They are working specifically with Wilmington’s sister cities, Kalmar, Sweden, Watford, England, Fulda, Germany, Osogbo, Nigeria, and Olevano sul Tusciano, Italy.
The dictionary definition of “SYNE” is “to bring together”, and, since its inception in 1992, the group has kept that focus. Working under the auspices of the non-profit Sister Cities of Wilmington, SYNE has produced several local and international exhibitions.
SYNE has had the opportunity to present their work overseas and meet and discuss their careers with artists in England, Germany and Sweden. Their new Sister Cities Connections Project, “Parallel Visions”, would give them the opportunity to host artists from around the world and present their work to the public in Wilmington.
The current roster of SYNE are the founding members Deborah Stelling, Valetta, Mitch Lyons, Rick Rothrock, and other SYNE members Ken Mabrey, Helen Mason, Carla Lombardi, and Margo Allman.
SYNE’s mission is to reach out and enrich our community through the visual arts.
